Visited the buddha in Nara

We have now visited the buddha in Nara. It was very big, but not as huge as I had expected.

Now time to leave Nara. Next stop will be Kanazawa. We will get there by first taking commuter train to Osaka, and then switch to a regular train to Kanazawa. They are currently building a bullet trainline to Kanazawa, but I don't know when it will be completed.

Nara deer

I failed to see the bug Buddha in Nara today. They closed around the time of my arrival, but I will get back there tomorrow.

Nara is however packed with deer.

Some snack!

I've been looking like crazy after roasted/dried baby crabs, and I finally found them!

Did also buy dried fish mixed with nuts.

Haven't decided if I should eat them now or wait until I'm back home in Sweden.

In Nara

Have finally arrived to Nara. Bought a bento before I boarded the train in Hiroshima, but wasn't hungry. Had it in Nara instead.

Going from Hiroshima to Nara means bullet train, then local train, followed by commuter train. The trip took about 3.5h in total.

Have to wait for an hour before we can check in. Killing time at mister donut.

Tenpyo Ryokan, the Japanese hotel, where we will spend the night has a local bath, and a very odd location. It's located on a narrow shopping street.

On Sakura bullet train

Sakura is one of the bullet trains, or Shinkansen as the Japanese signs says. Had never used it before. We had previously travelled with Hikari. All bullet trains so far have had vending machines in them, but not this one.
There's however a lady walking around selling snacks.

This one also has less legroom, but still plenty if you don't have a huge bag in front of you.

It's possible to store luggage at the end of the car.

One thing to note is that all seats always are facing forward since they can be rotated. Another cool thing is that the trains leaves and arrives when they are expected to. Our ticket says that we will be in Shin-Osaka at 12:44, and the train will be the at that time, and leave about 1 minute later.

The Sakura will take us from Hiroshima to Shin-Osaka, and we will then take a local train to Osaka. We then board the train that goes to Nara.
