On Sakura bullet train

Sakura is one of the bullet trains, or Shinkansen as the Japanese signs says. Had never used it before. We had previously travelled with Hikari. All bullet trains so far have had vending machines in them, but not this one.
There's however a lady walking around selling snacks.

This one also has less legroom, but still plenty if you don't have a huge bag in front of you.

It's possible to store luggage at the end of the car.

One thing to note is that all seats always are facing forward since they can be rotated. Another cool thing is that the trains leaves and arrives when they are expected to. Our ticket says that we will be in Shin-Osaka at 12:44, and the train will be the at that time, and leave about 1 minute later.

The Sakura will take us from Hiroshima to Shin-Osaka, and we will then take a local train to Osaka. We then board the train that goes to Nara.

Shopping and vending machines

We are now about to take the train to Nara, where the biggest(?) Buddha statue is placed. It's about 15 meters in height.

... but we need to take some breakfast first.

This is one of the t-shirts that I have bought. I wonder what it says. Need to ask someone.

One of the odd things here in Japan, is that you see vending machines everywhere, and that you can buy both cold and hot beverages in some of them.

I bought canned hot coffee.

Japanese and western style tapas dinner

Visited a Japanese restaurant that had what I only can describe as a mix of Japanese and western style tapas.
It was very yummy, but looked as if there had been a food fight when we left the table.

Btw, we got seated in a "cage" close to the entrance. Many Japanese people looked at us when they passed by.

Visited Hiroshima peace memorial park

Have just visited Hiroshima peace memorial park, and the atomic bomb dome.

The building in one of the shots is the only building still standing near where the bomb exploded.

The other images are from the park or the museum that explains what happened on that day.

The winner takes it all!

Had to kill 4h before we could check in.

Spent some time shopping, and then went to an arcade hall. Win big time against Ida in a dance battle(!?), and also won against her in drumming. Yay!

Had one of the best lunches ever after that. Got cold noodle soup, tempura and sushi. The owner and his chef were so friendly. They gave us a squid dish for free. The food was well prepared, and looked so good. Can't understand why it was so cheap. Only 700 JPY, less than 6 EUR.

On the way to Hiroshima

Got up early, and took a bullet train to Hiroshima. It takes about 2h with direct train, and you can only take direct trains in the morning.

A great site that you can use to find train tables etc in English is:

Did not buy a breakfast at the station, the plan is to have breakfast in Hiroshima, so just had some candy and water as snack.

It's currently raining outside  :-(
